内容简介：

The content of the talk would deal with materials that most people in the audience would likely be more familiar with, Jin Ping Mei (as an example of household information system, i.e. gossip, whispers, and intimate sounds), Feng Menglong (as an example of empire wide information sharing, rumor, false news, and fiction), and if time permits I can talk about the news of the fall of the Ming spreading to Europe (i.e. the transnational aspect of acoustics). The idea would be to talk about familiar literary texts, figures, and topics, but show them in a new light, by thinking through the idea of acoustics, i.e. listening to the text.
